As a club we pride ourselves on providing a facility for everyone to participate in the sport of cricket regardless of age, ability or gender. We also provide a community hub for everyone to enjoy the social side of our club in a pleasurable and safe way offering an opportunity to play sport and creating enduring friendships.
We do this to promote the sport of cricket, including its values and to provide an asset within the town of Atherton that we can all benefit from and have pride in.
The club was originally formed in 1872 and over the years has gone through many changes and seen some great times. The current committee has a strong focus and determination to continue building on the hard work and dedication that our past members have put into the club to continue to make the club better for everyone by investing in every aspect of it and promoting its place within our community.
Atherton Cricket Club is a registered charity with the Charities Commission (Charity No. 1186443) and upholds the values, transparency and accountability associated with our status.
As a charity we understand our responsibilities to our members and the wider community and the importance of our position as an organisation.
The club is involved with many community activities such as fund-raising events for local and national charities.
We also hold many events throughout the year for the community to get involved in including our annual family fun day, music festival, Halloween fireworks spectacular and the past & present players association golf day.
As a club we have very strong links with all our local schools, holding regular cricket tournaments to introduce local children to the sport of cricket and allowing them to enjoy the fantastic facilities our club has to offer.
We are always looking for new people to get involved with the club and as a purely volunteer led club, any contribution that people can provide no matter how big or small is always greatly appreciated.
Our club is a welcoming and enjoyable club and gives all volunteers an opportunity to put something back into the local community to make a positive impact on the lives of the people we serve, whilst also providing a platform for our volunteers to gain a real sense of satisfaction whilst making a positive contribution to society.
